“Skinny” repeal bill dies in the U.S. Senate. At about 1:30 a.m. Friday, a bill that would repeal parts of the Affordable Care Act but retain others failed to capture enough votes in the Senate. Three Republicans, Sens. Susan Collins (ME), John McCain (AZ) and Lisa Murkowski (AK), voted against the bill, which would have eliminated the individual and employer mandates and the medical device tax. It was the third version of a repeal bill that Senators failed to pass in as many days. It’s unclear what happens now, as Congress will soon return to their home states.
