Cindy is a Principal with over 15 years of public accounting experience. She leads the Entrepreneurial Services Group within Tighe, Kress & Orr. Cindy specializes in implementing strategic accounting services. Cindy also has accounting and tax experience with small to mid-sized business and individual clients. Cindy strategizes how to mitigate tax and penalties due. On one occasion, she helped a client save over $33,000 in tax by drafting a private letter ruling to the IRS, in which, the result was no tax or penalty due. Cindy has extensive experience with QuickBooks and QuickBooks Online and enjoys consulting with startup businesses. She has assisted several businesses in software conversions and upgrades. Cindy takes pride in partnering with her clients to ensure they are maintaining accurate accounting records, have proper period end closing procedures and understand their accounting statements. She has a keen eye for attention to detail and creating policies and procedures. Cindy acts as an ally to her clients by assessing the needs of an organization and making recommendations using her many years of experience.

In addition to Cindy’s extensive accounting experience, she has a multitude of knowledge of dealing with assurance services, assisting over seventy governmental and not-for-profit clients, as well as reviewing and supervising audits and other consulting engagements. She has knowledge with preparation of reports for submission of GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement Program and Association of School Business Officials International. Over the years, Cindy’s concentration was in planning, executing and reporting on financial, operational and compliance audit and review engagements.

Cindy is a Certified Valuation Analyst with the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts. She performs business and stock valuations for the following purposes: transaction (acquisition, divestiture, reorganization), taxation (federal income, gift, and estate), dispute resolution, and management information and planning. Cindy enjoys performing business valuations as it allows her to understand the story of the business, where it came from, and where it is going.

Taking excellent care of her clients is Cindy’s top priority. She prides herself in being responsive to their needs, answering questions quickly, returning emails promptly, and always working to get the job done for them. Cindy’s clients can expect plain English explanations and a down to earth personality when working with her. She loves making personal connections with each client and takes the time to build a trusted relationship.

Cindy is a graduate of Aurora University. She is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of Illinois and is a Certified Valuation Analyst. Cindy is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Illinois CPA Society, National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA), Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) and serves on GFOA’s Special Review Committee.

Cindy enjoys working with non-profits and giving back to the community. Not only does she serve as Board President of a not-for-profit organization, she also goes to several community events during the year. Some of her favorite events involve running 5Ks, dinner events, and golf outings.

In her spare time, Cindy likes traveling with her Husband, Steve and Daughter, Eve. Her favorite vacation spots are Las Vegas where she enjoys gaming and seeing the latest shows, South Carolina for beach fun, and family trips to Wisconsin where she goes fishing with her daughter and two nephews. Cindy also enjoys gardening and spending time outdoors with her family.
